It works in the schoolyard and it works on the playing field. When faced with two, demonstrably powerful women, who are capable of, and willing to use force, they readily submit. But what gives a woman the advantage the man's absolute determination not to be seen, by others, as having been humiliated by two women. He will go to almost any lengths, including feminization, to keep his shame a secret.'

Three outwardly ordinary married couples share their experiences:

DARREN AND MONICA: When he asked her for a divorce, she beat him. Her sister beat him. They both beat him until he accepted that there was to be no divorce. The two women forced him to wear lace-trimmed ladies underwear during their absence to stop him from running away.

'Darren was so ashamed,' says Monica, 'it was in his best interests to remain silent. He didn't want his friends and family to know he was being beaten. If I lost control he would remind me not to mark his face for example! Later, as he was forced to wear a dress and lingerie, he helped me keep it all a secret. No man wants it known that he is being feminised, and his fear of being exposed helped me go even further than I'd dare dream at the outset. To me women who try and persuade their husbands to wear skirts are missing the point. If you force him to wear them just once, all the rest of it falls into place.'

MIRIAM AND BRIAN: Miriam was ten years older than Brian and lived with her older sister Doris. It was only after the wedding that Brian realised that the two women were inseparable. Inevitably the newly-weds moved in with the older woman. Slowly they took over his life; choosing his clothes, who he visited, even how he ate his food. His first - and only - attempt to assert his independence was put down with brutal ferocity. Both women slapped and punched him into sobbing submission.

'He never ever tried that again.' Miriam explained. 'It was as though we had demonstrated his position in the 'pecking order' and now he knew where he stood he was willing to accept everything this entailed. His feminisation actually started in the bedroom. I hated his old-fashioned pyjamas and Doris bought him a silk nightshirt. It was exactly what we needed. When that went into the wash-basket I merely gave him one of my nightgowns to wear. I'd already agreed with Doris that she could sleep with Brian whenever I was away on business. I don't know the exact details but apparently Doris had to beat him that first night and she too made him wear a silk gown in bed. Brian wasn't really much of a man after that little episode. Soon he was wearing a lot of our old stuff from the attic.'

STEVE AND CARLA: He never actually asked Carla to marry him. When her sister announced their engagement he was too scared of her to deny he'd ever proposed. After the wedding they moved into a small apartment. Carla's sister came to stay for a few days - and never left! The older woman attempted to seduce him and when he spurned her clumsy advances she battered him into submission!

'A man who has been taken by force,' says Carla, 'is not really a man any more. He only told me the truth after our own sex life deteriorated. I was angrier with him than I was with my sister. The night he confessed I beat him and then forced him to satisfy me orally. I know she went on using him but we all kept quiet about the situation. Soon it became clear that he was more of a housewife than a husband. He didn't have to wear our old clothes, he was just too scared, and too much of a sissy, to refuse. Not only did Steve not complain, he would sit down and help us decide what he could wear that wouldn't give the game away! Before we left the house we would all 'check' his appearance. Was his bra strap showing under his shirt? Was his pantyline visible under his jeans? Had he removed all trace of nail varnish? It was okay for us to see him in a bra and panties - but none of us wanted the rest of the world to know!
